When I was a child, I taught myself to weave and crochet by observing others, and used to love sit around for hours on Sunday mornings randomly crocheting. As my children grew, even though they were homeschooled, with some time freed up, I began to be able to explore not only crocheting again, but weaving traditional baskets, spinning yarn, and loom weaving.
The sheer amount of fibres and textiles available allowed me to use traditional techniques while having the freedom to add a personal and contemporary flair.
Loom weaving and spinning gives me the freedom to make unique pieces from scratch, that have eclectic, boho, vintage and fantasy themes and often depict a dreamy aesthetic.
Sustainability has become increasingly important to me, the more I learn about waste. I taught myself to sew as a way to mitigate this waste through upcyling and repurposing. Sewing is a fantastic medium to make this happen. The sewn hair accessories and bags in my little shop are designed keeping fashion/fabric waste in mind, making use of remnant and discarded fabrics and materials, while maintaining comfort and ease of use.
With an online shop, I am able to share my ideas with all of you.
